The four defendants accused in the murder of Craig Rideout and the attempt to cover it up were in court today, where lawyers argued over whether their statements to investigators were made voluntarily.
Monroe County Court Judge Thomas Moran refused a defense request to close the court proceedings, place a gag order on the participants and seal the court papers. A string of Seneca and Monroe County deputies and investigators then began describing for the court how they proceeded in their dealings with the four defendants.
Court adjourned in late afternoon and resumes at 9:15 Friday morning.
Rideout’s estranged wife, Laura, her boyfriend Paul Tucci, and her sons Colin and Alexander Rideout are all accused of cleaning up the crime scene in the basement of Craig Rideout’s Penfield townhouse and disposing of the body and other evidence. All four were subsequently charged with second degree murder in Rideout’s strangling death.
