A couple who tried to leave their French Bulldog at the pound has been charged with animal cruelty by the Ontario County Humane Society when the dog turned out to be having seizures.
The 10-year-old dog had a seizure while Gregory Simmons and Amoni Lathrop were filling out the paperwork to surrender him at the shelter. They claimed to have just found the dog, but a social media search showed they had owned the dog for several months. Investigators found the dog had begun having seizures and the couple decided to drop it at the pound rather than pay a veterinarian to treat him.
The dog, named Fletcher, passed away while having a seizure as he was being treated and he died early Monday morning.
