A proposal to steer some county contracts to firms owned by veterans was sidetracked in the Monroe County Legislature last night.
Majority Republicans on the Ways and Means Committee referred the question to County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo for study. It was introduced by the Democratic legislators, who said veterans should be added to firms owned by minorities and women in getting a guaranteed share of county business.
Democrats say they don’t see why the bill couldn’t have gone to the legislature for a vote, but they’ll work with the administration. Minority Leader Cindy Kaleh said they want better economic opportunity for service men and women as they come back home to Monroe County.
