Monroe County Executive Adam Bello says he’s being “roadblocked” by the county legislature’s Republican majority.
Bello issued a statement on Tuesday saying a measure introduced by GOP leadership will limit the Democratic executive’s ability to make county contracts. He says that reverses 30 years of county policy and drastically changes the way the county operates.
The county legislature voted 21-8 Tuesday night to proceed with the legislation despite Bello’s objection. Six of 14 Democrats sided with the Republicans to limit the County Executive’s power. One of the pro-legislation Democrats, Ernest Flager, said the bill ensures transparency in handling county business.
