UPDATED Story:
The Monroe County Legislature has reapproved the appointments of 38 county officials who learned their appointments were never valid, because they failed to file a state-mandated Oath of Office with the Monroe County Clerk.
County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo resubmitted all the appointments under Messages of Urgency for approval at tonight’s (Tuesday’s) meeting on the advice of the county attorney.
Legislators rejected a call from the minority Democrats to set up a written policy guiding appointees to boards and authorities about the necessary paperwork they have to file.
Dinolfo is a Republican and County Clerk Adam Bello is a Democrat, who first uncovered the missing paperwork while reviewing COMIDA, the county’s economic development agency. Bello is quick to note in a statement that several boards and commissions had to postpone their meetings this month and he’s glad the county now realizes this is an important requirement.
