Rochester City Councilman Adam McFadden has pleaded guilty in Federal court to wire fraud and filing a false tax return. He was charged in February with fraud and money laundering charges.
His company, Ceasar Development, did no work in exchange for a $65,000 payment from a lobbying firm hired by a subsidiary of the Rochester Housing Authority. McFadden allegedly conspired with the Housing Authority board chairman, George Moses, who has a court date next week.
U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. says he thinks McFadden’s guilty plea was a victory for Monroe County taxpayers.
McFadden spoke to reporters outside of court, saying “ I pleaded guilty because I was guilty,” and also “narcissism and ego got the getter of me. McFadden said whether or not he is a elected official, he will continue to fight for the voiceless.
Sentencing is scheduled for June. Prosecutors are recommending he spend a year behind bars.
