The Rochester City Council has approved Mayor Lovely Warren’s budget plan, including some controversial changes in how city firehouses are staffed.
Up ’til now, firefighters got overtime for coming in to staff firehouses when the regular crews were called out to a fire. The new budget replaces that model with what’s called “dynamic staffing.”
Firefighters say that will reduce fire response times and affect safety.
