Genesee , Orleans and Livingston County declared travel advisories for Wednesday as heavy snow piled up on the areas west and south of Rochester. Snow was heaviest west of Batavia, and the Thruway banned trucks and buses from Henrietta to the Pennsylvania State Line.
For Rochester the snow was minimal but the cold was intense, with single digit temperatures driven to extreme cold wind chills by strong winds. Rochester and East Rochester schools, which rely on children walking to school, canceled classes for the day.
