The owner of the Main St. Armory announced Monday that he has canceled the “Reawaken America Tour’s” planned stop at his venue in Rochester.

Scott Donaldson said in a statement that the Armory is an “equal opportunity and non-political venue. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, etc.”

The Reawaken America tour was scheduled to stop August 12 and 13 in Rochester, saying it features speakers on “freedom, faith, family, health and conservative family values.” former Trump advisor Gen. Michael Flynn is one of the tour backers.

Two bands recently canceled their performances at the Armory because of the tour.

City Councilman Michael Patterson issued a statement saying he knew this event did not belong in Rochester. Patterson said the first amendment gives the organizers a right to speak, but he found a way by building consensus in the community to get the event canceled. Patterson thanks Rosemary Rivera of Citizen Action NY and Mayor Malik Evans for helping convince Donaldson to cancel the event.
