Western New York Congressman Chris Collins is blaming Democrats including Governor Cuomo, Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand for the flooding along Lake Ontario this spring.
Collins is a Republican and was an early Donald Trump supporter. He visited flooded homes along Sandy Harbor Drive in Hamlin on Tuesday, saying he opposed the International Joint Commission’s Plan 2014 to let Lake Ontario rise and fall naturally before it was adopted. He says it’s the cause of the trouble and Democrats failed to take a position before it was approved.
Collins wants the three U.S. members of the IJC fired and the Trump Administration to pressure Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to dump the plan.
