More blue-green algae blooms have been spotted in Conesus Lake. The Livingston County Health Department says they’ve been found along the East Shore in various spots including the State Boat Launch.
The first blooms were spotted a week ago in the area of Southern Shores. The county has been monitoring them and warns that some blue-green algaes produce toxins that cause skin irritation and flu-like symptoms. They recommend you wash well after touching the lake water in affected areas and keep dogs away.
The algae can bloom in calm, warm water and conditions have certainly been favorable the past several days.
