New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has asked in a letter for State Attorney General Letitia James to investigate the writing of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s book on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Specifically, the comptroller wants to know if Cuomo improperly used state resources or staff in the development and promotion of the book. According to the New York Times, the letter asks James to investigate “indictable” offenses related to the use of state property or employees for personal purposes or private business purposes. The letter says allegations have surfaced that public resources may have been used in the governor’s book, which netted him a substantial pre-publication deal.
DiNapoli’s office is not commenting. Nor is James’
At a Monday news conference, Governor Cuomo said some people volunteered to review the book, and he gives them credit in the book.
