Demonstrators marching under the “Black Lives Matter” flag went to the Rochester Police Locust Club union headquarters on Lexington Avenue Wednesday afternoon, calling on Union President Mike Mazzeo to resign.
Mazzeo says officers who pepper-sprayed and handcuffed a 9-year-old girl last week did not break protocol.
Members of the Community Justice Initiative went to the building’s door and wanted to speak with Mazzeo. They did speak face-to-face with some officers who came out of the building, and left after being advised they were on private property. They did not speak with Mazzeo.
