Monroe County officials say we’ve entered a “common sense” phase of the COVID pandemic, one in which people and families should assess the risks and make the decisions that are appropriate for them.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello says people should be respectful if those decisions include continuing to wear masks, even after the state’s indoor mask mandate has ended. Meanwhile, Bello says the county will continue to hand hour half-a-million KN95 masks it bought for Monroe County school districts because Governor Kathy Hochul continued the mask mandate on schools into March.
County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza said the Omicron Variant of COVID is now behind us. He urged common sense, meaning stay home if you don’t feel well and isolate if you test positive for COVID. Mendoza says COVID itself isn’t over yet.
