Two Rochester residents ended up in the hospital after trying to use a gasoline-powered pressure washer to clean their basement.
The Rochester Fire Department was called to 1485 Norton Street about a quarter-to-12:00 after the carbon monoxide detector in the house went off. They found the two people in the basement overcome by the fumes and four other people who were affected.
All were removed to safety, two taken to the hospital and the other four treated at the scene.
The fire department warns that gasoline motors should only be used outdoors or with adequate ventilation.
