Cleanup continues after Monsoon-like rains fell on the Finger Lakes region and eastern Monroe County Tuesday, with Seneca County recording nine inches of rain in six hours.

That caused a flooding emergency at Lodi Point in the Town of Lodi, Seneca County. The rains flooded homes and fields, slowed traffic on the Thruway to a crawl. States of Emergency were declared for Monroe and the surrounding counties. Monroe’s was listed just before 10:30 Tuesday night, but the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office declared a curfew for the Lodi Point area Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

The flood waters at Lodi Point left cars stacked on top of each other and forced evacuation of a mobile home park. In Schuyler County the Humane Society was flooded but all the animals were safe.

State Police and Seneca County authorities say heavy equipment is being brought in to remove fallen trees and debris from roads. It may take up to a week to get all roads reopened.  Emergency management officials were escorting people back to their homes but some homeowners may not be able to move back in for months until they can get damage repaired.
