The City of Rochester wants public input on plans to expand its network of bicycle-friendly streets, known as “bicycle boulevards.”

They’re alternative routes for bicyclists who want to avoid high-traffic streets, which are then optimized for bikes and equipped with measures to discourage drivers from using them as cut-throughs (like speed bumps and roundabouts). The city wants to add 20 lane miles of bike boulevards on what it says are seven key routes that don’t have bike-friendly streets. They generally run parallel to high-traffic arterial streets.

There’s an online survey on the city web page, and an upcoming public meeting on Zoom.
