The Rochester City School District is surveying parents as it works to address the issue of school violence. It’s also the topic of a superintendent’s conference on Tuesday.
The district made robocalls and sent emails to parents and staff, asking if they support having police outside city high schools and arrival and departure time.Â
Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small has said she believes the negatives of having police inside the schools on students of color are too great to resume in-school resource officers as the district used a couple of years ago.
Last week, the school board tabled a motion to fund officers outside the schools. A new vote is set for Tuesday, November 9th and the survey results are expected back before then.
