A top administrator has abruptly quit her job at the Rochester City School District. Director of Special Education Theresa Wood submitted her resignation on Monday after just two months on the job, saying her integrity would not allow her to continue.

Theresa Wood was hired December 1st after she retired from the New York State Department of Education. She came back from an unpaid vacation on Monday, submitted her letter of resignation and left.

Contacted by the “Democrat and Chronicle,” Wood said she supported Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams, but she had grave concerns with some decisions that were being made in the district and could not continue in the job.

The district said in a statement that it thanks Wood for her work and understands the Special Education Department faces serious challenges in meeting the needs of its students.
