The City of Rochester released the body-worn camera video late Wednesday night of a fatal police shooting on West Main Street. The shooting at the Open Door Mission took the life of a homeless man who advanced on police with a knife.
The video shows officers repeatedly backing away from the man who continues to advance towards them. They try to engage him, asking his name and telling him to drop the knife, but he doesn’t comply. Finally as he advances an officer fires and he falls to the pavement.
The officers render first aid, but the man later died at Strong Memorial Hospital.
