Mayor Warren and other city officials cut the ribbon on Rochester’s first Dog Park this week. The park at Cobb’s Hill is fenced in so dogs can run off the leash. The city is also hoping neighborhood dog owners will interact as well as their pets and get to know each other.
The new park is off Norris Drive near the softball diamonds in Cobb’s Hill Park. Use is limited to city residents with licensed dogs for now, and you need to get a free permit and tag which for now is only available at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall during business hours. With the tag, you get a pass code that opens the park gates. This is a pilot program, and depending on how it works out that will probably expand to other locations.
The park has large and small dog areas, stone and other surfaces, fire hydrants and watering stations for dogs.
