Rochester officials, police officers and members of the Rochester clergy gathered on the steps of city hall this afternoon for prayers and a moment of silence in memory of the five officers shot down in Dallas.
Mayor Lovely Warren called on people to follow the words of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings; to watch their use of words that can wound and inflame.
Mayor Warren says Rochester is trying to de-escalate mistrust between police and the African American Community, finding ways to engage and build trust between the two. And the mayor called on everyone to stand by Rochester’s police officers as they continue to protect and serve.
