Democrat Matt Haag says increasing job demands and family health issues make it impossible for him to run for a third term on the Rochester City Council.
Haag isn’t the only council member standing down at the end of next year. Democrat Carolee Conklin says her third term is also her last (Haag and Conklin are at lower left in photo).
Haag is in fundraising at the University of Rochester and was promoted last year to associate vice president for clinical, research and academic development. He says his increased workload combined with his parents’ declining health that forces him to spend time out of state means the added workload of a campaign is too much.
Both Haag and Conklin are at-large council members. All five at-large seats are up for election next year.
