In a symbolic vote, the Rochester City Council has urged Mayor Lovely Warren and Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan to discipline the seven police officers involved in the Daniel Prude case.

The resolution approved by council on Tuesday night includes possible firing of all seven officers.

Prude died after being restrained by police during a mental health crisis a year ago. His family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city. A grand jury declined to indict the officers on any criminal charges.

The resolution passed 8-0 with Councilman Jose Peo abstaining.
