The Rochester City Council last night approved two development measures that could mean big changes for Rochester downtown and the Eastman Business Park.
Council authorized the mayor’s office to apply for a state grant to develop Parcel Five, the remaining undeveloped piece of the former Midtown Plaza site. Since it was created by the demolition it has been used for performance events including at the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival, but remains a gravel lot. The $4.7 million grant would help fund a $23.5 million project to turn Parcel Five into a year-round community performance space.
Council also authorized zoning changes for the former Kodak Park manufacturing complex, now the Eastman Business Park. The changes expand the kinds of development allowed there. No specific projects have been announced, but the site will now welcome expanded business and residential developments.
