The City of Rochester has declined to renew the entertainment license of the Main Street Armory, shutting down performance events in the wake of last weekend’s crowd crush disaster that fatally injured two women and injured a number of other people. One of them remains in critical condition.

Police Chief David Smith said Armory Owner Scott Donaldson was invited to a meeting Wednesday with him and city staff to discuss voluntary surrender of his license, but Donaldson was a no-show. The chief and City Corporation Counsel’s office say the city then declined to renew the license. An investigation of the Sunday incident in in progress and the chief says police can’t say any more until it’s completed.
