Former NFL QB and current NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms loves him some Josh Allen.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback ranked on Simms’ recently released list of the league’s top-40 quarterbacks. In it, Simms gushes over Allen, however, he admits that the tape has to do the talking.
Simms tabbed Allen as the 23rd best signal caller in the NFL. Still, for a second-year QB, that’s a decent ranking and as mentioned, Simms had plenty of positive analysis for Allen, even admitting that he had Allen ranked higher, but he had to reel himself in and push Allen down a few pegs.
“I think that (Allen is) a natural leader. You can tell it the way he talks to people, the way people gravitate around him,” Simms said.
“I had to stop myself, don’t get your own love affair here,” Simms added in regard to ranking Allen even higher on the list.
Simms admitted that he loves Allen’s potential, not what he’s done thus far in the NFL. Of note, Allen has to improve his accuracy next season and the Bills are hoping the additions around him along the offensive line and at the playmaker positions will allow him to do just that.
One way or another, count Simms in as one guy who thinks Allen is going to be good in 2019. The analyst said he expects Allen to be pushing as a top-five QB in his rankings in a year from now.
“Josh Allen is one of those guys that, I would not be shocked if we were sitting here next year and I’m flirting with Josh Allen in the top-five of this list,” Simms said. “He’s a man crush of mine, he really is.”
