A LeRoy man has been charged with reckless driving, unreasonable speed and other charges after his car went off the road early Tuesday morning in Chili. Ryan Dewald, 24, was seriously injured in the crash along with his passengers.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says it happened near the corner of Humphrey Road and Brook Road. Deputies found the car in the woods and determined it had missed a curve in the road. The driver hit an embankment, went airborne, and rolled to the wooded tree line.

The driver was ejected from the car, but his front seat passenger had to be pried out of the wreck. The three rear seat passengers were able to get out by themselves. All were seriously injured and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. It’s not known if any of the occupants, who raged in age from 17 to 24, were wearing seatbelts.
