Child advocacy groups in Rochester and Monroe County Legislature Democrats are both reacting positively to County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo’s decision to hire 30 more Child Protective Services caseworkers.
That will bring the department back to its authorized strength. Dinolfo also announced pay upgrades designed to retain existing caseworkers and attract new ones.
The Children’s Agenda commends the decision, which follows the death of three-year-old Brook Stagles. They call it an important and meaningful step forward in addressing Monroe County’s staggering reports of child abuse and neglect.
Democratic leader Cindy Kaleh says she’s glad the county is finally taking action.
