Deputy Chief Glenn Sheremeta worked his last day for the Rochester Fire Department on Monday after 41 years of service to the city.
Chief Sheremeta comes from a family of firefighters. He joined the RFD in 1976 and went up through the ranks from firefighter, to Lieutenant, To captain, and Battalion Chief by 1993. When he took command of Battalion One, he took over from his own father who held the job before him.
Glenn Sheremeta served in every rank in the fire department’s line division and the fire department’s Health and Safety Office before becoming deputy chief.
Between Sheremeta, his brother and his father they have more than 100 years in fire service in Rochester.
