A parole absconder accused of stealing beer from a gas station in Henrietta led police on a chase through three Monroe County towns before being arrested late Wednesday night.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Elbert Davis of Rochester was arrested after fleeing on foot from the stolen car he was driving.

Davis, who has seven felony convictions, allegedly stole beer from a Mobil Station of Jefferson Road about 11:20 p.m. The clerk reported the theft and described Davis and a passenger in his car. Deputies determined the car had been stolen last month in Rochester.

Brighton police spotted the car and gave chase, assisted by Monroe County deputies. Davis fled, pulling the car into a backyard on West Henrietta Road. As police approached the stopped car, Davis drove at them forcing the officers to jump out of the way.

State Police then spotted the fleeing car and joined the chase, pursuing it through several towns before the chase ended on Route 31F near St. John Fisher College.

Davis and 30-year-old Alana Greenough of Rochester were arrested. Both were charged with possession of stolen property and with petit larceny. Davis was also charged with reckless endangerment and was arrested on a parole warrant. He also faces numerous traffic charges. Greenough was also charged with drug possession.
