The ex-wife of Joshua Niles and her current husband have been charged with last month’s double murder on Carlton Street in Sodus.
Charlene Childers and Timothy Dean have been charged with first degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and other charges in the deaths of Joshua Niles and Amber Washburn (in photo). Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts made the announcement Monday night.
Dean is currently being held in Texas on unrelated charges and will be returned to New York to face the murder charge. Childers was already being held in Wayne County on a fugitive warrant out of Texas.
Sheriff Virts said investigators believe Dean and Childers conspired to kill the Sodus couple. He said Dean pulled the trigger and killed Niles and Washburn. Childers had just lost a custody battle for her two children with Niles.
