An arrest has been made in the fatal hit-and-run accident that took the life of a 20-year-old Rochester woman earlier this month.

Rochester police have arrested 30-year-old Michelle Correia of Rochester on a charge of second degree manslaughter. She’s being held in the Monroe County Jail pending arraignment later today.

Police say over two weeks, investigators from the Major Crimes Unit were able to identify the car that struck and killed Nyasia Walker on the 900 block of Clifford Avenue. They identified Correia as the driver.

Nyasia Walker was struck at 9:25 p.m. on August 9th. She was critically injured and died later at Strong Memorial Hospital. Police say Correia was driving recklessly before hitting Walker and then fled the scene.
