The Rochester City Council tonight takes up zoning changes the city believes will help turn the Eastman Business Park into a mixed-use area where people live, work and play.

The plan proposed by Mayor Lovely Warren would gradually (and hopefully) transform the former Kodak Park manufacturing complex into an area that also allows a variety of non-manufacturing businesses and residential complexes.

The area was once the largest single manufacturing complex in New York State, extending from Lake Avenue and Ridge Road out into the Town of Greece. The city’s part of the land already includes the Kodak Center theater complex and the $53 million Eastman Reserve mixed housing and commercial use project. There are also numerous businesses that have moved into the space.
