Rochester’s deputy mayor is resigning. Dr. Cedric Alexander says he is leaving Rochester because of his mother’s poor health, and his desire to spend more time with her. Alexander says he’s leaving at the end of the year.
Alexander’s replacement will be City Communications Director Jim Smith.
Dr. Alexander is a former Rochester police chief. He became deputy mayor in March of 2017 following the death of Len Redon. Prior to that, he was Director of Public Safety for DeKalb County, Georgia.
