The Mount Morris man convicted in a crash last June that killed a three-year-old boy and wounded the boy’s cousin is going to prison. Frank Cassata has been sentenced to 25 years to life.
Cassata was accused of intentionally driving his car into a group of people along Lyell Avenue after arguing with a man nearby. Prosecutors say Cassata was aiming at that man on the sidewalk, but missed and hit the toddler and his cousin instead.
After hitting the people, Cassata drove off and crashed into another car at Lake and Phelps Avenues. He was found guilty of second degree murder, vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene and DWI.
