Just over a year after it began operations, the del Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County says it needs a better tax deal from the state, and a level playing field against Seneca-Indian-owned casinos.

 

Tom Wilmot told USA Today in Albany that he hoped state leaders would help out the casino, which ended its first year short of its revenue projections.

 

Del Lago says the Seneca Nation casinos have a blatant competitive advantage, because they’ve stopped paying taxes to the state as part of a gaming dispute and are using the money to lure gamblers away from non-Indian casinos.

 

The Senecas answer that the del Lago developers had unreasonably high expectations when they applied for their gaming license.
