Rochester fire crews responded early Monday morning when two adjacent houses on Carl Street near Remington Street went up in flames. It quickly became a two-alarm fire because of the two structures involved.
The Fire Department says they were called for smoke and flames from a 1.5 story house and arrived to find both 10 and 12 Carl Street on fire. Number 10 Carl St. was the scene of an earlier fire on Christmas Day that it believes to be arson.
Firefighters searched both homes and rescued several dogs from 12 Carl St. Both homes suffered heavy damage and about 50 firefighters were needed to control both fires. Nobody was hurt, and the cause of the fires is under investigation.
