Former New York State Attorney General Dennis Vacco argued at a hearing in Albany today that Buffalo School Board Member Carl Paladino is the victim of a “power hungry” board majority. Acting as Paladino’s counsel at a State Education Department hearing, he claimed that majority is trying to “ram their agenda” down other people’s throats.

Paladino, a Buffalo developer and former candidate for governor, is defending himself against charges that he’s no longer fit to serve on that city’s school board.

According to the state, this is the first time such a hearing has ever been held. Six members of the Buffalo School Board want Paladino gone, they say because he violated board confidentiality by publishing an editorial about the district’s teacher contract negotiations in an alternative weekly newspaper.
