A 15-year-old was arrested in connection with a carjacking at gunpoint Sunday night.

Early Monday morning police heard gunfire on Glenwood Avenue, coming from a blue Toyota that matched the description of a car stolen at gunpoint earlier that night on Conkey Avenue. The city’s Shot Spotter system also activated. The officer got behind the stolen car and tried to pull it over, but the driver hit the gas and tried to flee. After a brief chase he gave up, bailed out and ran. He was quickly arrested on Jay Street with help from a police dog.

The juvenile was taken to Strong where he was treated for a dog bite and released. Police say their investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending against the 15-year-old.
