A 4:30 a.m. carjacking Thursday morning ended in a crash a number of blocks away and the arrest of the driver and passenger who were in the stolen car.

Rochester police say the carjacking happened on Saratoga Avenue on the West Side. The stolen car was spotted by police within 20 minutes of the theft, but the driver refused to stop and drove off. Officers chased the car for about eight minutes before both occupants bailed out of the car as it was still in motion. The car continued west on Felix Street until it rammed into a parked car. Both suspects were taken into custody at Felix Street and Dewey Avenue, near the City Water Bureau.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for injuries he suffered jumping out of the car. The other man, in his 50s, was treated on scene by AMR Ambulance crews.

Charges are pending against both men.
