People had to be evacuated from a Rochester church Sunday afternoon after a report of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
Fire Department Spokeswoman Dana Cieslinksi says a crew was called to Emmanuel Temple Church at 1 Seneca Parkway. Their equipment detected high levels of CO in the building. They evacuated the church, and RG&E later discovered an improperly installed furnace caused the problem.
Fire crews ventilated the building and the furnace was shut off until it can be fixed. Two adults and a child were taken to the hospital as a precaution and eight people were treated at the scene.
