Police were called to the Mortimer Street Garage in downtown Rochester last night when a car pulling out of the garage onto North Clinton Avenue hit a person riding a bicycle.
The car’s bumper clipped the bike’s rear wheel, causing the rider to fall off. There was only minor damage, but the bike rider complained of pain and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the car was an off-duty police officer, heading home in his personal vehicle.
The 41-year-old bike rider was ticketed for riding on the sidewalk and riding at night without lights.
