A man who lost control of his car on North Street in Rochester bounced off a utility pole and hit a man riding a bicycle, sending him to the hospital with critical injuries.

Rochester police are investigating what caused the 64-year-old Rochester man to lose control of his car at North and Clifford Avenue about 7:45 Sunday evening. After hitting the pole, the car hit a 79-year-old city man who was biking on North Street. The older man was thrown from his bike and is in critical condition at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the car was also taken to Strong with non-life threatening injuries. RG&E had to restore power to the neighborhood.
