Canandaigua police say a man is dead after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing South Main Street near Niagara Street.
They say the elderly man was on a motorized scooter, and was crossing in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a mid-1950s, green Ford pickup. That driver then fled the scene.
The victim was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight, but died of his injuries. His name has not yet been released as authorities seek to notify his family.
Investigators are searching for the 1950s pickup and its driver, and are asking for the public’s help. They supplied a traffic camera image seen above.
