A Canandaigua man has been charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal after his St. Bernard was found emaciated and unable to stand, and had to be euthanized to end its suffering.

The Ontario County Humane Society says 31-year-old Clarence Grover Jr. owned an eight-year-old St. Bernard named B-Dog. Investigators found the dog had broken her leg several months ago and it was left untreated. The leg became infected and the dog was unable to walk on it. She was immediately taken to a veterinarian who advised that she be put down.

Grover will answer the animal cruelty charge in Manchester Town Court.
