A Canandaigua man was charged with drunken driving Thursday night after a chase that began in Ontario County and ended in the City of Rochester.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says they tried to stop a car on 490 Westbound in Ontario County. The driver nearly ran down the deputy who had been out on another traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and continued down the expressway. Deputies gave chase and pursued the vehicle until it finally stopped on University Avenue in Rochester.

They arrested 60-year-old Richard Gillette, finding that he had a revoked license and was required to have an alcohol interlock device in his car. They charged him with felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation.
