While Lake Ontario shoreliners are coping with high water levels, the Ontario and Yates County Sheriffs are calling on boaters to be careful on Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes because of high waters and hidden debris.
Boaters are urged to keep speeds down to no more than five miles per hour within 200 feet of shore on both lakes.
Officials say the windstorm last month and heavy rains since have washed tons of debris into the water and left floating tree limbs and other hazards that are floating mostly below the surface.
