It’s another sign of the times. Surveillance cameras are going up to cover the downtown Canandaigua business district.
Canandaigua Police say they’ll have 14 high-def cameras covering Main Street by the end of the month. They can be viewed from police headquarters and the 911 dispatch center. Officers can also watch on the computer screens in their patrol cars and the footage is automatically recorded and stored.
The funding was authorized over the summer by the Canandaigua City Council.
