As it posted a record 373 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the Monroe County Health Department called on people to limit shopping trips to once a week, and to cancel travel plans for Thanksgiving to avoid spreading the disease.
Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza said the surging infection rate won’t be curbed until we start changing our behaviors. He said the record number of cases is one he doesn’t want to break.
The CDC also urged people not to travel this holiday weekend.
Dr. Mendoza says more younger people are ending up in the hospital with COVID, and that’s a trend indicating trouble ahead.
